    Special proceedings initiated against blogger Anton Matolka under 13 criminal articles

    In Belarus, blog­ger Anton Matol­ka was charged under 13 arti­cles of the Crim­i­nal Code. The cre­ator of Belarus­ki Hajun, a media project ded­i­cat­ed to cov­er­ing the move­ment of Russ­ian troops and mil­i­tary equip­ment in Belarus, and a for­mer blog­ger-urban­ist is accused of attempt­ing to seize pow­er, extrem­ism, and high trea­son.

    Former Tut.by employees to stand trial in absentia

    On July 15 the Min­sk City Court began the tri­al in absen­tia of for­mer employ­ees of the Tut.by por­tal Vol­ha Loi­ka, Ale­na Tauka­cho­va and Kat­siary­na Tkachen­ka. All defen­dants are cur­rent­ly out of Belarus.

    Belsat TV faces uncertainty: Will promised ‘new opportunities’ deliver?

    The reform of TVP World, which cur­ren­ly includes the Bel­sat TV chan­nel, has been announced. Experts have indi­cat­ed that the changes will result in the loss of much of the auton­o­my cur­rent­ly enjoyed by Bel­sat TV and a reduc­tion in its scope. The channel’s act­ing direc­tor, Ali­ak­sei Dzikav­it­s­ki, declined to com­ment.

    Vadz­im Yer­mashuk (Vadi­mati), a blog­ger, was released on June 29, 2024, accord­ing to Vias­na. Yer­mashuk was incar­cer­at­ed for a peri­od of three years.
