The regional independent press is being consistently destroyed in Belarus. Mantsevich is accused of “spreading deliberately false information discrediting Belarus and its authorities.”
In early April, a Slutsk newspaper Infa-Kurier announced its closure after all its texts were recognized as extremist materials. The day before, the newspaper’s editorial office was searched. The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Siarhei Stankevich and his deputy Aleh Rubchenia were detained. They were sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest.
