On Sep­tem­ber 14, the team of the Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists once again took part in the Inter­na­tion­al Jour­nal­ists’ Foot­ball Tour­na­ment in Druskininkai.

The annu­al tour­na­ment is orga­nized by BAJ part­ners from the Lithuan­ian Jour­nal­ist Union and the Lithuan­ian Sports Jour­nal­ist Asso­ci­a­tion. Up to 10 teams par­tic­i­pat­ed in this year’s tour­na­ment, each play­ing against each oth­er.

Tra­di­tion­al­ly, the BAJ team was led by jour­nal­ist Miki­ta Melka­zio­rau. The team played against nine oppo­nents, win­ning 5, draw­ing 2, and los­ing 2.

As a result, Belaru­sians took the fifth place in the tour­na­ment.

It is worth not­ing that the BAJ team emerged vic­to­ri­ous against the tournament’s top per­former, the Lithuan­ian team Pres­sas. They also played to a draw with the sec­ond-place team and secured the same points as the third and fourth teams. How­ev­er, accord­ing to the sup­ple­men­tary cri­te­ria, they were placed fifth.

After nine games, the BAJ team remains opti­mistic and looks for­ward to next year’s tour­na­ment.
