    Maryna Zolatava awarded with the Johann Philipp Palm Prize

    Belaru­sian jour­nal­ist Mary­na Zolata­va has been award­ed the prize as a “per­son of extra­or­di­nary courage and sin­cer­i­ty”. The for­mer edi­tor-in-chief of the TUT.BY por­tal was nom­i­nat­ed by the “Reporters With­out Bor­ders” orga­ni­za­tion. The award cer­e­mo­ny will take place in Decem­ber 2024 in the Ger­man city of Schorn­dorf.

    “Banned Texts” of Belarusian journalists echoed in Sweden

    Swedish writ­ers and jour­nal­ists have expressed their sol­i­dar­i­ty with impris­oned Belaru­sian jour­nal­ists. In Octo­ber, a sol­i­dar­i­ty event titled “Cen­sor­ship in Belarus – Banned Texts” took place in Malmö, Swe­den, orga­nized by the PEN Club and the Daw­it Isaak Library as part of a week of sup­port for banned cul­ture.

    The Supreme Court upheld the sentences in “Tsikhanouskaya’s Analysts” case

    On Octo­ber 8, the Supreme Court of Belarus con­sid­ered appeals in the absence of 20 inde­pen­dent ana­lysts, researchers, and politi­cians sen­tenced to impris­on­ment. Belaru­sian inde­pen­dent media jour­nal­ists Yury Drakakhrust and Han­na Liubako­va are among them. All the indi­vid­u­als involved in the case are abroad.
