Palina Zyl: from provincial vlogger to political prisoner
On September 5, 2025, the name of Mazyr-based vlogger Palina Zyl was added to the List of Individuals Involved in Extremist Activity on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. The site also reports that her verdict has entered into force, and the convicted vlogger is serving her sentence.
Belarus frees 52 political prisoners, including 9 journalists
The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) welcomes the release on Thursday of 52 political prisoners, including 9 journalists, by the Belarusian authorities. There are still 27 journalists in prison in Belarus. The EFJ demands their immediate release.

Journalist Aleh Supruniuk sentenced to three years in prison
Friends of the Brest journalist report that on August 8 Aleh Suprunyuk received a three-year prison sentence. He was convicted of involvement in an “extremist formation.” Prior to the verdict, he had spent over six months in pre-trial detention.
