  • Another verdict for media worker: Yury Hladchuk handed 2.5‑year sentence

Yury Hladchuk, a special projects editor at Avtobiznes portal, was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment, a source reported to Novy Chas. At the end of February, Minsk City Court will consider the appeal against the verdict.

Gladchuk was accused of insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus and organizing or actively participating in actions that grossly violate public order.

On 28 February, according to the schedule of court hearings, Minsk City Court will consider an appeal against the journalist’s sentence.

On 16 June 2022, law enforcers detained Avtobiznes media workers: editor-in-chief Yulia Mudreuskaya, editor Vadzim Ziankevich, and special projects editor Yury Hladchuk. Mudreuskaya’s trial began in September 2022. She was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for participating in protests.
