NUJU presents flag of unity to Belarusian Association of Journalists
During his trip to Kyiv, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Barys Haretski met with Chairman of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Serhii Tomilenko.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine has designed and produced a special flag for ceremonial events. The first of this series of flags, which Ukrainian colleagues unfurled at an important event recently, was presented to Belarusians by the NUJU chairman.
«We proudly presented the first NUJU flag to Barys Haretski. Now our colleagues from the BAJ and the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union can display the flag at events in solidarity with Ukraine. This flag is a symbol of our unity and common struggle for freedom of speech. It reminds us: for our freedom and yours!» Tomilenko noted.
Barys Haretski reminded that the Belarusian Association of Journalists and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine are forever close friends and partners.
«We are working together for the journalists of our countries. We have the same enemy that is destroying our countries, our societies, and our media. Synergy at the international level is very important.»
During the meeting, Serhii Tomilenko also said that journalists working in Ukraine still have a great need for body armor. Among its many other activities, the NUJU opened a network of journalist solidarity centers across the country when the war broke out. They support journalists and media outlets and provide protective equipment for work in the frontline zone.
