    Criminal case launched against former Belarusian journalist Siarhei Skulavets

    Siarhei Skulavets was based in Ivat­se­vichy, where he was involved in busi­ness activ­i­ties and col­lab­o­rat­ed with the Bel­sat TV chan­nel. In June 2023, he was informed that anoth­er raid on jour­nal­ists was antic­i­pat­ed. Con­se­quent­ly, Siarhei relo­cat­ed with his fam­i­ly to the Unit­ed States.

    Journalist who covered protests after the 2020 elections to be tried in Pinsk

    Yauhen Nikalayevich’s tri­al is set for Sep­tem­ber 26. Back in 2020, he worked for the region­al pub­li­ca­tion Media-Polesye and cov­ered the protests that broke out in Pin­sk after the pres­i­den­tial elec­tion. The jour­nal­ist was then severe­ly beat­en dur­ing an arrest.

    Journalist Alena Tsimashchuk faces trial in Brest: accused of discreditation, inciting hatred, and extremism

    The sched­ule of the Brest Region­al Court for May 31 indi­cat­ed that an indi­vid­ual named Ale­na Tsi­mashchuk would be tried on three charges: dis­cred­it­ing the Repub­lic of Belarus, incite­ment to hos­til­i­ty or dis­cord, and par­tic­i­pa­tion in an extrem­ist for­ma­tion.
