    Belarusian journalist Dzianis Ivashyn denied phone calls for four months

    Belaru­sian jour­nal­ist and polit­i­cal pris­on­er Dzia­n­is Ivashyn has been unable to make phone calls to his fam­i­ly for the past four months, accord­ing to his wife, Vol­ha Ivashy­na. The jour­nal­ist, cur­rent­ly held in Prison No. 8 in Zhodz­i­na, last con­tact­ed his rel­a­tives on Novem­ber 12, 2023.

    Former Babrujski Kurier editor Anatol Sanatsenka sentenced to 15 days in detention

    Author­i­ties in Belarus have detained Ana­tol Sanat­sen­ka, for­mer edi­tor-in-chief of the inde­pen­dent region­al news­pa­per Babru­js­ki Kuri­er. Sanat­sen­ka was arrest­ed on March 28 in Babru­jsk, where secu­ri­ty forces also searched his res­i­dence.

    Belarusian media unite: 18 outlets launch new ethical self-regulation system

    Fif­teen edi­to­r­i­al teams from inde­pen­dent media out­lets and three media orga­ni­za­tions have signed an agree­ment on the self-reg­u­la­tion of the inde­pen­dent media sec­tor, along with the new Code of Con­duct for Belaru­sian Jour­nal­ists. Around ten oth­er inde­pen­dent pub­li­ca­tions are con­sid­er­ing join­ing the agree­ment.

    The search data­base does not indi­cate which legal arti­cle Belaru­sian and Russ­ian author­i­ties are using to pros­e­cute Aleh Aheyeu, the deputy chair­man of the Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists (BAJ). Ear­li­er, anoth­er BAJ deputy chair­man, Barys Haret­s­ki, was also added to a want­ed list.
