  • Former videographer Yauhen Hlushkou detained in Mahiliou

Currently, he is in the local temporary detention facility.

Mayday.Team reported that the last time Yauhen contacted his family was on January 4. Since then, he has not returned home or contacted anyone. Human rights activists assume that the former journalist might be detained.

According to an acquaintance of the detainee who talked to Mediazona, Hlushkou lived alone and had no contact with his wife and son. He is likely to have been detained on January 4 or 5.

Neighbors reportedly saw police officers walking him out of the house. An acquaintance of the detainee stated that the former media worker is currently under investigation. The investigator informed Yauhen’s wife about it, but the charges are unclear.

Yauhen worked at Mahiliou City TV for many years. Since the 2000s, he has collaborated with various city media.
