  • Russian Content Cedes Positions in Belarus

    According to Beltelecom data, foreign websites make 95 per cent of online traffic in Belarus.

    The share of Belaru­sian Inter­net resources takes up around 5 per cent of the exter­nal gate­way, said Siarhei Tur­omsha, the deputy direc­tor gen­er­al on com­mer­cial issues of Bel­t­ele­com.

    The rush hour in traf­fic con­sump­tion falls between 7 pm to 11 pm; the min­i­mum con­sump­tion is between 3 am to 7 am. In sum­mer, traf­fic falls by 30 per cent, which can be account­ed for by sum­mer vaca­tions.

    The ratio between Russ­ian and oth­er for­eign online con­tent has not changed late­ly and makes around 50 to 50 per cent.

    Sev­er­al years ago, Russ­ian con­tent pre­vailed, its share amount­ed up to 70 per cent.

    Over 40 of traf­fic of Belaru­sian audi­ence is made by resources YouTube, VKon­tak­te and Mail.ru. Users tend to increase the con­sump­tion of heavy con­tent,” said Siarhei Tur­omsha.
