    On March 8, Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, the former director of Belsat, stated that the TV channel’s budget had been reduced by almost 50%. Today, she announced on her social media that she was fired after 17 years of working at the TV channel and 32 years at TVP. Aliaksei Dzikavitski, one of the founders of the channel and Romaszewska-Guzy’s current deputy, will take over her duties.

    “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to cut the TV channel’s budget by 47%, and as a result, there are plans to divide the channel’s shows. Russian-language programs will likely be moved to TVP World. In my opinion, this decision is a significant mistake and a fundamental violation of the concept that has been developed over the years.

    Belsat was a valuable asset for Poland as a station directed towards the East, especially in the current difficult and potentially dangerous international situation. It would be a mistake to dismantle such a unique project, which is the only TVP channel founded from the ground up and mainly run by its employees,” shared Romaszewska-Guzy.

    It is worth noting that Belsat’s areas of work include:

    • Belarusian newsroom;
    • Russian newsroom;
    • Editing of programs;
    • Internet news portal in Belarusian;
    • Online news portal “VotTak” in Russian;
    • Polish language online news portal;
    • English language online news portal;
    • Program preparation and curatorship;
    • Social media department;
    • YouTube support department;
    • Teletechnics and informatics department;
    • Economics department;
    • Audience analytics department.

    Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, who was born in Warsaw, graduated from the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw. She co-founded the National Committee of Independent Student Organization with her husband Jarosław Guzy. While pursuing her doctoral studies in the United States, she interned in the American media. Since 1992, she has been employed by Polish national television.
