  • RockRadioBY launched in Ukraine

The RockRadioBY was launched in Ukraine on the website of Ukrainian RockRadio. The radio stream features music by modern and cult-favorite Belarusian-speaking bands, espreso.tv reports.

Oleh Vdovichenko, a Ukrainian radio producer, and Siarhei Budkin, head of the independent Belarusian Council of Culture are the founding fathers of the project.

“Many music industry representatives were forced to leave Belarus, and numerous songs were banned. RockRadioBY aims to be a platform for Belarusian rock musicians and supporters of true Belarusian culture. The radio station intends to showcase Belarusian and Ukrainian rock and serve as a starting point for joint cultural projects,” according to the creators of RockRadioBY who spoke to espreso.tv.

The team plans to expand the platform’s content with news blocks. These will include information about the situation at the front, cultural initiatives, Ukrainian-Belarusian relations, author’s shows, interviews with the Belarusian opposition, cultural and political figures, as well as with representatives and soldiers of the Kastus Kalinowski regiment. The organizers plan to air shows with both Belarusians and Ukrainians who support the idea of a free Belarus as a country friendly to Ukraine.

“This will enable Belarusians to receive truthful information about the events in Ukraine, given the level of censorship and propaganda in the official Belarusian media,” the founders believe.

Additionally, a smartphone application has been developed for this project, allowing listeners to access RockRadioBY.
